Over 4,800 Tons of Goods Transported via Herat-Khaf Railway in 24 Hours

Local officials in Herat province under Taliban administration have announced that, for the first time, more than 4,800 tons of commercial goods were transported along the Herat-Khaf railway route within a 24-hour period. According to them, this figure indicates increased practical use of this transit route.
Mohammad Yousuf Saeedi, spokesperson for the Herat governor, stated that based on technical evaluations, the monthly transport capacity of this railway exceeds 120,000 tons, with an estimated annual capacity of about one and a half million tons. He added that this capacity can enable the regular shipment of goods on a large scale.
Local officials believe that the full activation of the Herat-Khaf railway will connect Afghanistan to regional and global markets, playing a significant role in strengthening the national economy, creating job opportunities, and increasing the country’s transit value.
Due to its geographical location in western Afghanistan, Herat has historically been one of the important trade gateways, and the Herat-Khaf railway, as one of the key infrastructure projects, can further enhance the province’s position in regional trade.
