UN Unveils Afghanistan Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan for 2026

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has unveiled the “Afghanistan Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan” for 2026, highlighting that the humanitarian crisis in the country remains severely alarming.
According to the plan, nearly half of Afghanistan’s population is expected to require humanitarian aid in 2026, a situation that keeps Afghanistan among the world’s largest humanitarian crises.
OCHA stated that the goal of the plan is to save lives and support vulnerable communities across the country and called on the international community to cooperate in providing funding and continuing aid.
At the same time, aid agencies have repeatedly warned that restrictions and policies imposed by the Taliban administration, especially in social and work sectors, have made access to aid and effective support for needy groups more difficult, increasing the pressure on the people of Afghanistan.
