Street Vendors Relocated from Roads in Khost as Part of Urban Order Initiative

The municipality of Khost has initiated the relocation of street vendors, tables, and commercial activities from roads and sidewalks to designated areas as part of an urban order improvement plan.

Abdul Rashid Amri, the mayor of Khost, stated that this measure aims to prevent urban disorder and facilitate citizens’ movement. He added that by implementing this plan, the city’s order, beauty, and urban conveniences will be enhanced.

According to him, the program is being executed by urban authorities under Taliban administration, and residents of the city have been urged to cooperate in its implementation. Meanwhile, the municipality has promised that the interests of all parties involved will be considered during this process.

Some Khost residents have also regarded this step as important for reducing congestion and addressing significant traffic issues. However, it is expected that, alongside enforcing urban order, serious attention will be given to the livelihoods of street vendors and the provision of suitable alternatives for their work.
