Snowstorm Forces Temporary Closure of Herat–Torghundi Road to Heavy Trucks

The Herat–Torghundi highway has been temporarily closed to large and heavy freight trucks due to heavy snowfall and intensified storms in some areas.

The media office of the Taliban governor in Herat announced that snowfall and strong winds are particularly severe in the Band-e-Baghcher area, making conditions unsuitable for the passage of heavy vehicles.

In a statement released by the office, citizens were urged to avoid unnecessary travel along the route until further notice to prevent potential accidents.

According to local officials, currently only small vehicles equipped with tire chains are permitted to travel on the road, and the condition of the highway is being continuously monitored.
