Mirziyoyev: Afghanistan Remains Key to Regional Cooperation

Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of Uzbekistan, has stated that Afghanistan continues to be one of the main pillars of regional cooperation, maintaining a significant position in interactions among neighboring countries and international partners.

Mirziyoyev made these remarks on Friday during the inaugural ‘Central Asia – Japan’ summit. He noted that the participating countries share a common vision for Afghanistan’s future—one founded on peace, stability, and a meaningful path toward development.

Highlighting Japan’s role, the Uzbek president expressed appreciation for Tokyo’s longstanding and consistent support of Afghanistan. He emphasized that Japan has consistently been among the major donors to the country in recent years.

Mirziyoyev voiced hope that coordinated efforts among regional countries and Japan would help improve living conditions for the Afghan people, strengthen social and economic development, expand infrastructure, and enable more active Afghan participation in regional economic projects.
