Trump Signs New Order Tightening Entry Restrictions on Citizens of Several Countries

The White House has announced that Donald Trump, the current President of the United States, has signed a new executive order that expands and intensifies entry restrictions to the U.S. for citizens of countries with serious deficiencies in security screening and information sharing.

According to the order, the existing full restrictions on entry for residents of Afghanistan and 11 other countries will remain in place. The document states that ongoing security concerns and the lack of adequate information-sharing are the main reasons for maintaining these restrictions.

In response to this decision, several migrant advocacy groups, including Afghan Evac, have expressed concern, warning that the continuation of such policies could severely hinder the resettlement efforts and future prospects of thousands of Afghan nationals.

This move comes amid the recent political upheaval in Afghanistan and the Taliban’s takeover, which has led many Afghan citizens to seek safe pathways to migrate or seek asylum, particularly in the United States.
