Afghanistan Freedom Front Claims Attack on Taliban Positions in Faizabad

The Afghanistan Freedom Front has announced that its forces targeted Taliban positions near the governor’s office in Faizabad, the capital of Badakhshan province, on the evening of Saturday, December 12.

According to a statement released by the group, the attack resulted in the deaths of three Taliban members and the injury of another. The Freedom Front stated that its forces carried out the operation without sustaining any casualties.

The announcement said that the Taliban’s “Reserve Unit” forces in Badakhshan were the main target—units which, according to the Freedom Front, are responsible for suppressing civil protests and instilling fear among local residents. These claims come amid ongoing reports of strict security measures and harsh crackdowns on civilians in several Taliban-controlled provinces.

As of the time of reporting, the Taliban administration has not responded to the attack. A day earlier, on Friday, December 11, the Afghanistan Freedom Front also claimed responsibility for an attack on a Taliban recruitment center in Kunduz city, in which two Taliban members were reportedly killed and three others injured.
