Taliban Declines Invitation to Regional Envoys Meeting in Tehran

The Taliban administration has announced it will not participate in the upcoming regional special envoys meeting scheduled to be held in Tehran, despite having received an official invitation. Zia Ahmad Takal, the head of information and public relations at the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made the announcement, emphasizing that the administration maintains continuous and active engagement with all regional countries through various institutions and channels. He noted that significant progress has been made in fostering mutual understanding and regional cooperation. Takal further stated that Afghanistan’s foreign ministry believes regional collaboration should be pursued by strengthening existing mechanisms and formats. The Tehran meeting, expected to take place next week, will reportedly be attended by special envoys from Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, China, and Russia.
