Islamabad Think Tank Hosts Forum on Afghanistan’s Evolving Situation and Regional Ties

The Islamabad Institute of Strategic Studies announced on Thursday, December 10, that it had held a forum focusing on the evolving situation in Afghanistan and regional relations. According to the institute’s statement, the event featured Daniel Markey, a senior fellow at the Stimson Center specializing in China and South Asia.

Participants at the forum discussed U.S.-Pakistan relations, the ongoing transformation in Afghanistan under Taliban rule, and the broader regional and global strategic outlook. These discussions were part of regional analytical institutions’ efforts to understand the political and security consequences of developments in Afghanistan.

The Stimson Center, based in Washington, D.C., is considered a reputable research institution in the fields of security and foreign policy. Daniel Markey, a prominent figure at the center, has previously held talks with Mohammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s special envoy for Afghanistan, on the country’s security status and engagement with the Taliban administration.

Observers believe that the focus of such discussions by international research organizations reflects growing concern within the global community over Afghanistan’s security and humanitarian situation—conditions that under Taliban rule have faced numerous challenges, including isolation, human rights violations, and widespread restrictions.
