Turkish Diplomat Ends Kabul Mission, Vows Continued Aid to Afghanistan

Qari Din Mohammad “Hanif,” the Taliban-led administration’s Minister of Economy, held a farewell meeting on Thursday with Cenk Ünal, Chargé d’Affaires and Counsellor of the Turkish Embassy in Kabul, marking the end of Ünal’s diplomatic mission in the Afghan capital.

A delegation from Turkey’s Diyanet Foundation also attended the meeting, during which the two sides discussed ongoing humanitarian assistance, the expansion of economic cooperation, and Turkey’s role in implementing public welfare projects in Afghanistan.

The Taliban’s Economy Minister highlighted the Turkish diplomat’s role in strengthening bilateral ties and wished him success in his future assignments. The meeting took place amid Afghanistan’s ongoing humanitarian crisis, with continued international aid considered essential for the survival of many citizens.

Cenk Ünal thanked the Ministry of Economy for its cooperation during his tenure and reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to maintaining its aid program in Afghanistan.

He described his mission in Kabul as fruitful, noting strengthened collaboration between Kabul and Istanbul in sectors including trade, transit, and public service projects.

Ünal also announced that the Turkish government had sent a humanitarian shipment of 1,000 tons to victims of recent earthquakes in various Afghan provinces. The aid included food, clothing, medicine, and other essential supplies for those in need.
