UN Security Council Expresses Concern Over Escalating Tensions Between Kabul and Islamabad

The United Nations has issued a new report warning that recent tensions between the Taliban administration in Kabul and the Pakistani government have intensified to such a degree that the UN Security Council may consider drafting a resolution aimed at de-escalating the crisis.

According to the report, ongoing border clashes and increasingly hostile rhetoric between the two sides have become a global concern. Several Security Council members are reportedly interested in addressing the situation through diplomatic engagement and dialogue. A potential draft resolution would call for restraint and urge both parties to refrain from any new military action.

The UN also noted the possibility of the Security Council holding an informal consultative session to receive more detailed information from relevant UN bodies about the impact of the tensions on regional stability.

Bilal Omar, an international relations expert, highlighted the consequences of the crisis, stating that when global peace and security are at risk, the Security Council is obligated to take necessary measures to prevent further escalation.

While the United Nations continues to underscore the importance of dialogue in resolving conflicts, delegations from Kabul and Islamabad are currently engaged in bilateral talks in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Taliban administration, which continues to face a legitimacy crisis and international pressure, has yet to propose a clear strategy for preventing future tensions with Pakistan.
