Afghanistan’s Ministry of Public Health Stresses Collaboration with UNDP on Disease Control Projects

Noor Jalal Jalali, Acting Minister of Public Health of Afghanistan, during a meeting with Ahmed Saleh, the new head of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Afghanistan, emphasized the importance of cooperation to improve the implementation of health projects. The discussion particularly focused on projects related to malaria, HIV, tuberculosis, and other disease control programs.
According to the Ministry of Public Health, the new head of the UNDP committed to effectively advancing these projects and increasing collaboration to enhance the implementation of the eighth cycle of support from the Global Fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria.
These collaborations come amid widespread challenges in Afghanistan’s health sector and restrictions imposed by the Taliban administration, which have impacted the execution of health projects. The growing necessity for international support to combat pandemics in Afghanistan is being increasingly recognized.
