US Embassy in Riyadh Issues Security Warning Over Saudi Airport Threats

The US Embassy in Riyadh has issued a new security alert stating that all US government personnel must obtain special authorization from the chief of the diplomatic mission before using airports located in Saudi Arabia. This warning comes in response to successful military operations carried out by Yemeni armed forces against airports in Saudi Arabia, including Riyadh and Dammam. These attacks, regarded as retaliations against Saudi aggression targeting civilian areas in Yemen, have had significant security repercussions for air travel and diplomatic activities in the country. The embassy has also urged US citizens to remain vigilant regarding the possibility of further attacks on Saudi airports, potential airspace closures, and flight cancellations, as the security situation could rapidly deteriorate. It is worth noting that this alert follows the US State Department’s directive on October 23 for the evacuation of some of its personnel from Saudi Arabia. These developments have heightened concerns over the safety of air travel and diplomatic operations in the region.
