UAE Oil Company Warns of Sharp Global Oil Reserves Decline Following Strait of Hormuz Disruptions

The CEO of the UAE’s ADNOC oil company has warned about a significant drop in global oil reserves following disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. He stated that approximately one billion barrels of oil have been withdrawn from global reserves during this period, leading to a reduction in strategic oil resources.

This senior energy industry executive also noted that even if the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East end, a full return to normal oil export flows through the Strait of Hormuz will not occur before the first half of 2027. Such a prospect underscores the long-term economic consequences and profound impacts of the war on the global energy market.

These warnings heighten concerns about the economic and security implications of continued disruptions in crucial oil transit routes and emphasize that the depletion of oil reserves could exacerbate market instability and fuel an energy crisis.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the most vital oil transit chokepoints worldwide; disruptions there pose serious challenges not only to global markets but also to oil-producing and consuming countries alike.
