Afghanistan’s Foreign Ministry Warns Against Transfer of Afghan Refugees to Pakistan

Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed deep concern over plans to transfer some Afghan refugees without legal residency permits in the United States to Pakistan, urging Washington to adopt a responsible approach on the matter.
In a statement, the ministry emphasized that the Islamic Emirate considers it its duty to protect the rights of all its citizens and stressed that Afghan nationals worldwide should be treated in accordance with applicable laws, accepted principles, and with respect for human dignity.
The Ministry added that any decision regarding the fate of Afghan refugees should be based on bilateral understanding, with necessary coordination and respect for their legitimate rights. It also declared Kabul’s readiness to engage in constructive dialogue based on mutual understanding with the U.S., provided the concerns of both parties are considered.
The Foreign Ministry’s statement warned that third countries must not use the fate of migrants as a tool for short-term gains or impose restrictions, nor should human dignity, rights, and humanitarian principles be sacrificed for political considerations.
The statement concluded by affirming the Islamic Emirate’s support for the voluntary, safe, and dignified return of all Afghan citizens to the country and its commitment to cooperating in this process.
