Delivery of Patriot Missiles to Ukraine Delayed Until 2030

The U.S. State Department has approved the potential sale of 500 PAC-3 MSE interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine, valued at approximately $2.1 billion. However, informed sources have stated that the delivery of these missiles will not begin before 2030.
According to the Kyiv Post and Reuters news agency, these missiles have not yet been produced, and the delivery process is expected to be postponed to the early 2030s. Lockheed Martin has been named as the prime contractor for this deal.
This approval represents only one stage of the arms sale process and does not indicate an immediate delivery or acceleration of missile shipments.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky welcomed the decision but emphasized that his country urgently needs these missiles to counter Russian missile attacks in the short term. He urged U.S. allies to provide missiles from their existing stockpiles to Ukraine and replenish their reserves later with newly produced missiles.
