Zalmay Khalilzad Questions India’s Proposal to Arm Afghanistan Against Pakistan

Zalmay Khalilzad, former US Special Representative for Afghanistan, has questioned whether the Indian government will act on a recent suggestion to provide advanced weapons to Afghanistan to help it better defend against Pakistan.

Sahasini Haidar, an Indian strategic analyst, told the Times of India that India should consider the possibility of offering military support to Afghanistan against Pakistan by supplying anti-drone systems, drone technology, missile systems, and long-range surface-to-surface rockets.

The Indian analyst also urged New Delhi to reconsider formally recognizing the current Afghan government.

These remarks come amid heightened tensions between Kabul and Islamabad and growing discussions about the relations between India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan in the region, alongside new strategic dynamics.
