Wall Street Journal Reports Heavy Costs from Iranian Attacks on U.S. Military Bases in the Region

The Wall Street Journal has reported significant costs resulting from Iranian missile and drone attacks on U.S. military bases in the region. The Pentagon has estimated these damages at a minimum of five billion dollars, and according to new assessments, the total reconstruction expenses for these facilities could rise up to fifteen billion dollars.
This figure is separate from the overall costs of the U.S. war against Iran, which as of October 16 is estimated at about 47.1 billion dollars and does not include the damage to the bases. According to the Wall Street Journal report, Washington is seeking negotiations with its allied countries to share the reconstruction costs of the damaged bases in order to reduce some of the financial burden.
Many of these bases are jointly used with regional countries, which increases the financial significance of the matter. Analysts believe that these attacks raise serious questions about the necessity and effectiveness of the U.S. military presence in some Arab countries in the region, casting doubt on the current nature of these bases’ existence.
