Taliban Orders Evacuation of Over 250 Homes in Kabul’s 13th District, Arrests Protesters

The Taliban administration has issued an eviction order for more than 250 homes in the 13th district of Kabul city, detaining around 30 residents who protested against the decision.
A local source told Etilaatroz newspaper that about a week ago, the Taliban declared 41 jeribs of land in the 44th and 63rd alleys of Kabul’s 13th district as “Emirate-owned” and subsequently instructed the residents to vacate these lands.
This area is located southwest of Dasht-e-Barchi and behind Kat-e-Buland hill, housing approximately 250 families. Two days ago, the Taliban visited the site and distributed eviction notices for the homes, setting a 15-day deadline for evacuation.
Following the declaration of the land as Emirate property and the eviction order, local residents protested, demanding a review of ownership documents and land-related cases. During tensions and negotiations between community elders and the Taliban, at least 30 residents were arrested.
While the Taliban’s Ministry of Justice has previously announced the recognition of people’s property rights multiple times, no official statement has yet been issued regarding this matter in Kabul’s 13th district.
