Media Should Prevent Negative Propaganda Against Islamic Emirate, Says Administration Chief

Sheikh Noorul Haq Anwar, head of the General Directorate of Administrative Affairs, described the media as one of the key pillars of social progress, the correction of ideas and the strengthening of national unity, and stressed that these institutions must play a prominent role in preserving and strengthening the Islamic system.
Speaking at a three-day capacity-building seminar organised by the Ministry of Information and Culture, he said the Taliban administration had, in a short period, achieved what it claimed were gains in various sectors, but that these successes should be conveyed to the public through the media to prevent negative propaganda against the Islamic system.
The seminar has been arranged for provincial information officials, reporters from the Bakhtar News Agency and editors of publications, and aims to enhance the media’s ability to reflect news and information announced by the Taliban administration.
Given the importance of the media in the current situation, critics say the Taliban administration, by restricting media freedom and imposing control over journalists, is preventing their real growth and influence in society.
