Pope Leo XIV Needs No Further Treatment After Lung Cancer Surgery

Pope Leo XIV, the spiritual leader of the world’s Catholics, who underwent surgery last week for lung cancer, does not require any further treatment. The news was released early on Thursday, 30 Mizan, by his treating doctors.

According to reports, the 71-year-old pope underwent surgery on 13 Mizan on the lower lobe of his right lung. After the procedure, detailed histological examinations and molecular tests on the removed tissue showed that the disease remained confined to the same area and that the tumour had not spread.

The pope’s doctors, including lead surgeon Stefano Margaritora and his personal physician Luigi Carbone, said in a statement that additional oncological assessments confirmed there was no need for any chemotherapy or other supplementary treatment.

The Vatican has also informed the public of the development, which points to positive progress in Pope Leo XIV’s treatment and has eased the grief and concern of many Catholic followers.
