Taliban media commission discusses media complaints and foreign terms

The Commission for Reviewing Media Complaints and Violations, under the supervision of the deputy for publications at the Taliban-run Ministry of Information and Culture, held a meeting in which a follow-up report on previous decisions was reviewed. At the meeting, issues related to Radio Tolo, Chinar, and a number of other media outlets and journalists were raised, and the necessary decisions were taken.

Members of the commission stressed the need to prevent media outlets from using unfamiliar and foreign terms, and also discussed strengthening coordination between government departments and the media. In addition, they emphasised holding training courses and specialised seminars to address difficulties in accessing information.

The meeting came as information restrictions and weak coordination between different institutions and the media continue to be among the serious problems facing Afghanistan’s media environment, and the Taliban administration has so far failed to create the necessary conditions for free and transparent media.
