Qatar urges stronger support for Afghanistan’s economic recovery and private sector

Mariam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, Qatar’s Minister of State for International Cooperation, said at the Special Afghanistan Coordination Group meeting in Doha that the international approach must shift from responding only to humanitarian needs to supporting economic recovery and the development of the private sector in Afghanistan.
Stressing that building a sustainable future in Afghanistan requires improving economic conditions and strengthening private-sector activity, she said there is no solution for stabilising the country without addressing this issue.
Al-Misnad also emphasised the importance of expanding international cooperation and coordination to strengthen long-term stability and create the conditions needed for Afghanistan’s sustainable economic recovery.
This comes as Afghanistan’s economy under Taliban rule faces many challenges, and a lack of investment, along with restrictions imposed by the administration, has made achieving such goals seriously difficult.
