More Than 500 Families Forced Back to Afghanistan via Multiple Border Crossings

According to the Taliban administration, at least 122 families, comprising 542 people, have been forcibly returned to Afghanistan.
Hamdullah Fetrat, deputy spokesman for the Taliban administration, said in a statement on Tuesday, 20 October, that the returns took place through four border crossings.
He said 21 families, totaling 101 people, entered the country via the Torkham crossing in Nangarhar province, while 12 families, comprising 74 people, crossed through the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar.
In addition, 69 families, or 291 people, were returned to Afghanistan via the Pul-e Abrisham crossing in Nimroz province, and another 20 families, totaling 76 people, entered the country through the Islam Qala border crossing in Herat province.
These forced returns could have significant humanitarian and social consequences for the families concerned, especially at a time when people in Afghanistan are facing widespread economic and security problems.
