Taliban Seize and Destroy More Than 140 Amusement Devices in Logar

The Taliban administration in Logar province said it has collected and destroyed 142 gaming devices and recreational items in the provincial capital of Pul-e-Alam and several districts of the province. The items were confiscated and burned because they were deemed to be involved in what the group described as “un-Islamic and improper” activities.

Taliban morality officials have urged shopkeepers, teenagers and residents of the province to refrain from using these items and to respect their directives in this regard. They also said the campaign to restrict amusement devices in areas under their control will continue.

The move comes as part of the Taliban’s broad restrictions on social and recreational activities in Afghanistan, which have had negative effects on young people’s access to leisure and entertainment. These policies have raised concerns about depriving teenagers of suitable spaces to play and affecting their psychological development.
