Taliban Envoy in Russia Calls Pakistan the Main Threat to Regional Security

Mawlawi Gul Hassan Hassan, the Taliban administration’s ambassador in Russia, has described Pakistan as a serious threat to the security and stability of Central Asia and the wider region.
Speaking on Friday, Oct. 24, at the Moscow Security Conference on issues related to Central Asia and Afghanistan, he said the main threats to regional stability, in his claim, originate from Pakistan.
The Taliban envoy alleged that Pakistan provides shelter to groups opposed to the Taliban and has also created conditions for the activity of drug-related networks and Islamic State.
The remarks come as relations between the Taliban administration and Pakistan have been tense in recent months over security issues and the activities of armed groups.
Pakistan has repeatedly claimed that terrorist groups are operating against it from Afghan soil, but the Taliban administration has rejected those claims.
