Trump-Zelensky row deepens over Russian diesel deal, Guardian says

The Guardian has reported that the dispute between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has escalated to an unprecedented level after the announcement of a deal over Russian diesel supplies.
According to the newspaper, Trump on Saturday urged Zelensky to stop attacking Russian oil refineries. In response, Zelensky called the announced agreement between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin on fuel supplies “horrible” and said the revenue from its sale could help finance Russia’s war costs.
Zelensky has also warned that easing sanctions on Moscow could pave the way for continued Russian attacks on Ukraine. The Guardian described the confrontation as the most serious dispute between the two presidents since their clash at the White House in February 2025.
The tensions have risen as Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Trump’s envoys in peace talks in Miami, have raised the possibility of halting US intelligence sharing with Ukraine if the country continues its attacks on Russian refineries, the Guardian wrote.
