Amnesty International warns of human rights crackdown in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Amnesty International has voiced concern over the declaration of an emergency, the imposition of governor’s rule and the deployment of Pakistani armed forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The rights group warned that emergency measures must not be used to suppress human rights, silence dissenting voices or concentrate power. Amnesty International stressed the need to respect people’s fundamental rights and to prevent any abuse of the state of emergency.
