Former Pakistani Official Warns Afghanistan Becoming Hub for Terror After Drone Strike

Asif Durrani, Pakistan’s former envoy for Afghan affairs, has voiced concern over a recent drone strike launched from Afghan territory into Tajikistan, which resulted in the deaths of three Chinese nationals. In a post on the social media platform X, Durrani warned that the incident highlights Afghanistan’s increasing role in the spread of terrorism.

Durrani stated that the attack should serve as a serious wake-up call for the region and signifies that Afghanistan, under Taliban control, has become a hub for terrorist activities. He warned that this trend could have dangerous consequences for the security of neighboring countries and overall regional stability.

He urged the international community, particularly Afghanistan’s neighboring states, to take immediate and coordinated action before the situation deteriorates further. Durrani stressed that global inaction in the face of growing threats from Afghan territory has placed global security at risk.

These concerns arise despite repeated claims by the Taliban administration that they have full control over Afghanistan’s security. However, attacks like this contradict such assertions and, according to analysts, expose the Taliban’s inability to curb militant operations within the country.
