Taliban Says Health Centre in Gormach Receives Medical Equipment Worth $111,000
The Taliban administration says a health centre in Gormach district of Badghis province has received 46 items of medical equipment worth $111,000, in a move made amid a shortage of healthcare facilities in the district.
The Taliban-run Ministry of Public Health said in a statement on Saturday, 4 October, that the equipment was handed over to the health centre with financial support from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
The ministry said another package of medical equipment is due to be delivered to the health centre in the near future. The Taliban administration did not provide further details on the exact timing of the new shipment.
Gormach is one of the districts of Badghis province in northwestern Afghanistan, where residents face limited access to health services. The need for more equipment and facilities at health centres in the province remains one of the persistent challenges facing the healthcare sector in the area.
