Telecom Network Cut in Panjshir’s Hesarak After Green Trend Claims Attack on Two Rangers
Local sources in Panjshir say that after an alleged attack on two Taliban administration Rangers in Hesarak district, the “Salam” telecommunications network in the area was cut off and residents have still not regained access to phone services.
“Green Trend” said in a statement on Wednesday, September 16, that its forces destroyed two Taliban administration Rangers last night in the “Gol Zanger” area of the Hesarak valley. According to the group, its members left the area after the incident.
The group also claimed that the Taliban administration cut off the local telecommunications network after the attack and subjected residents of the area to harassment. Local sources have also confirmed that the “Salam” network operating in the area remains down.
A video attributed to the incident shows two unoccupied Rangers parked by the roadside, followed by scenes of an explosion and fire. An independent news agency has so far not independently verified the details of the incident or the claims made.
“Green Trend” also claimed about three months ago that it targeted a Taliban administration Ranger with a roadside mine in the Abdullah Khil valley of Dara district in Panjshir province. In recent years, Panjshir has been among the provinces where reports have emerged of sporadic clashes and communication restrictions in some areas.
