Afghan Civil Activists in Melbourne Hold Second ‘National Centre’ Meeting

Afghan civil activists in the Australian city of Melbourne have held the second meeting of the ‘National Centre,’ a gathering that organisers said focused on examining Afghanistan’s ongoing crisis and finding ways out of the country’s current challenges.

Organisers said the main aim of the meeting was to strengthen solidarity among Afghans and create a space for discussion on the country’s most important political and social issues.

Participants stressed the equal participation of all sections of society in political affairs and called for the immediate reopening of schools and universities to girls. They also discussed ways to prevent the collapse of assets and the economy.

At the end of the meeting, participants pledged to work jointly against ethnic and linguistic prejudice.
