Pakistan Army Says 25 Killed Along Afghanistan Border

Pakistan’s military has said its forces killed 25 people, whom it called “terrorists,” in several operations along the Afghanistan border in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

According to the newspaper Dawn on Sunday, 15 September, the operations took place between 9 and 14 September. The report said 15 people were first killed on 9 September while, according to the Pakistan Army, they were trying to enter the country from Afghanistan.

The Pakistan Army said 10 more people were later killed in the same area. The force said the individuals had taken positions in the area, bringing the total number of those killed in the incidents to 25.

In recent months, Pakistan has repeatedly accused the Taliban administration of sheltering, supporting and arming anti-Pakistan groups. The Taliban administration has consistently rejected these accusations.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa lies along the border with Afghanistan and is considered one of Pakistan’s more insecure areas, where border clashes and counterinsurgency operations have been repeatedly reported.
