EU allocates 13.5 million euros to curb migration from Afghanistan

The European Union has allocated 13.5 million euros in fresh aid to address the root causes of irregular migration and displacement in Afghanistan. The assistance will be used with a focus on easing pressures caused by returns, displacement and a shortage of livelihood opportunities in a number of provinces across the country.

According to the announcement, the funding will be implemented through the Aga Khan Foundation in 10 provinces. The programme aims to support the sustainable reintegration of returnees and displaced people, strengthen climate-resilient agriculture and create job opportunities.
