Mullah Baradar Urges Investors to Back Afghanistan’s Housing Sector

Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Taliban administration’s deputy prime minister for economic affairs, has called on investors to put money into Afghanistan’s housing sector, amid an ongoing shortage of homes and rising demand for shelter in cities.

He made the remarks on the day the foundation stone was laid for block B4 of the “Peace Town” residential project for Macrorayan V in Kabul. According to him, investment in the housing sector can help meet part of Afghanistan’s need for housing and shelter.

Baradar also said that population growth in Kabul and the shortage of homes are problems that can be eased to some extent through residential projects. He asked the company implementing the project to observe standards and quality at every stage of the work.

Macrorayan is one of Kabul’s best-known residential areas, and similar projects are usually presented with the aim of meeting the capital’s growing housing needs, as the city has in recent years faced population growth and pressure on urban services.
