Kabul Municipality Says Nearly 10,000 Properties Expropriated for Urban Projects

A Kabul municipality representative says that in the past five years, nearly 10,000 properties have been expropriated to implement urban projects in the capital, and around 500 kilometres of new roads have also been built during the same period.

Nematullah Barakzai, a representative of Kabul Municipality, said the municipality has paid nearly 5 billion afghanis in compensation to Kabul residents for these properties.

He added that the construction of seven large flyovers is also included in Kabul Municipality’s work plan for this year, and work on some of these bridges is currently under way.

Kabul Municipality is responsible for managing urban services and implementing part of the infrastructure projects in the capital. Kabul is Afghanistan’s most populous city, and road and traffic projects there have a direct impact on the daily lives of residents.
