The Taliban’s Ministry of Interior has announced that a total of 338 kilograms of narcotics were discovered and seized during several separate operations in the provinces of Takhar and Nimroz, with six individuals arrested.
According to the ministry’s X (formerly Twitter) page, members of the Special Units of the Anti-Narcotics Department in Takhar conducted two operations resulting in the arrest of five people in Bangi district with 188 kilograms of narcotics and another individual in Taloqan city carrying 101 kilograms of narcotics.
The Ministry of Interior stated that the arrested individuals will be handed over to judicial authorities following preliminary investigations.
Meanwhile, Mawlawi Gul Mohammad “Qudrat,” spokesperson for Nimroz province’s police command, said that forces from the province’s fifth security zone discovered and seized 49 kilograms of opium during mobile patrols in the Siyah Chashman area. The narcotics were being transported in a “Khosti” type vehicle.
The Taliban administration reports these operations despite announcing policies to prohibit the cultivation and trafficking of narcotics. Nevertheless, seizures continue to be reported from various provinces.
