New Sammoud Flotilla to Head for Gaza Amid Arab Solidarity Efforts

As part of renewed grassroots efforts across the Arab world to end the blockade of the Gaza Strip, a group of Tunisian activists and their allies from other Arab nations are preparing a new flotilla bound for the besieged territory. Unlike previous missions, Tunisia will not serve as the launching point for the ships this time but will instead function as a transit route.

According to sources close to the organizers, the new fleet is scheduled to set sail in the coming months with a larger number of ships and under a different operational strategy than in past attempts. This time, countries such as Algeria, Libya, and Mauritania are designated as logistical hubs and gathering points for the flotilla. Ports in Tripoli and Misrata, Libya, are reportedly under consideration as launch sites.

Simultaneously, a land convoy carrying humanitarian aid is being assembled. It will begin its journey in Mauritania and travel through Libya and Egypt before reaching the Rafah border crossing into Gaza.

Despite intermittent ceasefires, Gaza remains under a comprehensive blockade by Israel, severely restricting residents’ access to essential supplies, medicine, and humanitarian assistance. These efforts are unfolding as the Taliban administration, which has remained largely silent on regional crises, has yet to issue an official response to the humanitarian situation in Palestine.
