Predatory Animal Attack in Samangan Injures 19, Including Women and Children

A predatory animal attack in the Daraisoof Payeen district of Samangan province has left 19 people seriously injured, including women and children.

The Taliban’s provincial office in Samangan confirmed to Afghanistan International that the incident occurred around midnight on Tuesday, July 21, in the villages of Qara Jangal and Oymatan Shomalk. According to the source, the injured were taken to the hospital for medical treatment, and their health conditions are under assessment.

Based on released images and information, several victims, especially children, suffered severe injuries to their faces and other parts of their bodies. Local residents reported that the animal also harmed some village dogs.

Following the attacks, Taliban forces killed the animal and then dragged its carcass tied by the neck to the back of a motorcycle along the ground. Published images indicate the animal resembled a wolf or a jackal.

Daraisoof Payeen district is located in northern Samangan province, and in recent years, some rural areas there have experienced the presence of wild animals.
