Afghanistan’s Inaugural Premier Wrestling League Kicks Off in Kabul

The first-ever Afghanistan Premier Wrestling League has begun in Kabul, featuring over 100 wrestlers from various provinces across the country.

The competition is being held at the 2,500-seat hall of the General Directorate of Physical Education and Sports, attended by athletes, coaches, team officials, and a number of enthusiasts.

According to the Afghanistan Wrestling Federation, the athletes are competing in 10 teams in a round-robin format over a period of 10 days.

Officials from the federation stated that the best wrestlers from different zones of the country, nominated by zone officials and overseen by the federation, are participating in this tournament. The top performers from this league are expected to be selected for membership in Afghanistan’s national wrestling team.

Wrestling is one of the most popular sports in Afghanistan, and the establishment of the Premier League is expected to provide a more structured competitive environment for the athletes in this sport.
