Wheat Harvest in Logar Increases by 12 Percent Compared to Last Year

The Department of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock in Logar has announced a 12 percent increase in wheat harvest in the province compared to the previous year. According to officials from the department, this year, 82,466 tons of wheat have been produced from 2,772 hectares of cultivated land.
Engineer Nasiruddin Bahij, head of the agricultural affairs at the department, told Bakhtar Agency that last year’s harvest amounted to 68,722.5 tons, and this year’s figures show a significant increase.
He cited improved security, timely provision of agricultural services to farmers, distribution of improved seeds and chemical fertilizers, implementation of awareness programs for cultivators, and expansion of cultivation areas as the main factors behind the yield growth.
According to this official, efforts to mechanize agriculture and to enable farmers’ self-sufficiency will continue.
Meanwhile, several farmers in Logar also confirm the rise in wheat yields. They stated that in previous years, they harvested about 100 seers of wheat per jerib of land, but now this amount has increased to more than 200 seers — a change they attribute to improved seed quality and cultivation methods.
