Taliban Dispatches 50 Vehicles to Arrest Deputy Governor Jumma Khan Fateh in Badakhshan

Local sources in Badakhshan province report that 50 Taliban-operated vehicles, including Humvees and trucks, have been dispatched to arrest Jumma Khan Fateh, the deputy governor of the Taliban administration in Zabul, heading toward Shighnan district. According to sources, this convoy is also expected to proceed to Nusay district after reaching Shighnan.

Based on information provided to 8am newspaper on Sunday, June 21, this armed convoy set out from Baharak district early that morning. Sources added that out of the 50 vehicles, only five belong to the Badakhshan faction.

Simultaneously, Mullah Mahboob Hamid, deputy governor of the Taliban administration in Ghor province, was asked to accompany the convoy; however, he refused to join the forces. Sources say he has not reported to his duties in Ghor province since Eid al-Adha.

In recent weeks, reports have emerged of increasing tensions and deteriorating relations between Jumma Khan Fateh, considered one of the prominent Badakhshani figures within the Taliban, and factions affiliated with the Kandahari Taliban. Although the Taliban administration has not officially commented on the matter, the deployment of this large military convoy is seen as a sign of escalating internal disputes within the Taliban’s structure—disputes that have repeatedly cast a shadow over stability and governance in several provinces.
