Turkey Arrests Senior ISIS-K Member in Special Operation

Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization has announced the arrest and transfer to Turkey of a senior member of ISIS-Khorasan in a special operation. Anadolu Agency reported that the operation targeted the ISIS-Khorasan media division. The detained individual is identified as “Ahmed Kazanji,” also known by the aliases “Abu Ubaida” and “Ibrahim.”

According to released information, Kazanji took over leadership of the ISIS media section after the previous media head in Turkey was arrested. He traveled from Turkey to areas in Afghanistan and Pakistan, joined ISIS-Khorasan, and was active in the group’s camps.

Turkish officials say Kazanji played a role in transferring ISIS members from Turkey to Afghanistan and Pakistan and managed part of the group’s personnel movement network.

Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization claims that after surviving airstrikes against ISIS positions in Pakistan, Kazanji attempted to illegally enter Turkish territory but was apprehended near the border during an operation.

The agency added that during interrogations, Kazanji confirmed his membership in ISIS-Khorasan and his involvement in the group’s media and propaganda activities. Turkish officials emphasize that this operation has foiled potential ISIS plans against Turkey and exposed networks facilitating the group’s personnel transfers.
