Construction of Concrete Drainage Channels Begins in Jalalabad with 150 Million Afghani Budget

The Municipality of Jalalabad has commenced the construction of concrete drainage channels with a budget of 150 million Afghanis. The project aims to regulate rainwater runoff and improve the urban environment in the city.

Municipality officials state that these channels are being built to prevent water accumulation on roads and residential areas, a problem that in past years has caused difficulties for residents’ mobility and damage to urban infrastructure.

Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar province, has long faced challenges in managing surface water due to its geographical location and seasonal rainfall. Urban experts emphasize that the proper implementation of such projects can play a significant role in reducing damages and improving the city’s health and environmental conditions.

However, citizens expect the Taliban administration and relevant authorities to maintain financial transparency during the project’s implementation and ensure the quality of work to avoid the recurrence of issues related to unfinished or substandard projects.
