Cyber Breach in Israeli Army Exposes Thousands of Confidential Images

A Hebrew-language publication has reported a widespread security breach within the Israeli military, revealing that thousands of soldiers and officers were targeted through fake online networks. This breach has led to the leak of sensitive images and videos from military sections and facilities.
According to the Mehr news agency, citing the publication ‘7 Days,’ the media outlet released investigative findings showing that networks linked to hostile parties impersonated well-known figures to communicate with Israeli soldiers. They encouraged these soldiers to send images and videos in which they appear in official uniforms and armed, inside military bases.
The report states that many soldiers were in contact with these accounts during their leisure time or while on guard duty. In one Telegram group, reported to have been active for three years, more than 16,000 videos and 10,000 images were recorded.
Besides capturing personal and inappropriate behavior of some soldiers, the videos also depict operations rooms, watchtowers, the interiors of tanks, and armored vehicles. Security observers warn that this could represent a serious threat to Israel’s internal security.
Experts have cautioned that hostile groups could use this information to gain details about the army’s equipment, base structures, and operational methods. This issue highlights weaknesses in cybersecurity oversight and information security control within the Israeli military.
