Cash Aid Distributed to Victims of Deadly Traffic Incident in Laghman

The Department of Incident Management and Preparedness in Laghman Province has announced that immediate cash assistance has been distributed to the injured and the families of the deceased from this morning’s deadly traffic incident in Qarghiyo district. The accident occurred near the Sarkhan crossroads, resulting in 20 fatalities, including 10 children, and injuring 33 others.
Qari Khair Mohammad Ghazi, head of this department in Laghman, stated that the aid was provided by the National Incident Management Authority under Taliban administration. According to him, each injured individual received 10,000 Afghanis, and each family of the deceased was given 20,000 Afghanis, totaling 730,000 Afghanis.
Officials said these funds aim to cover initial medical treatment costs for the injured and burial expenses for the victims. However, the repeated occurrence of fatal traffic accidents on highways and crowded areas across the country has once again raised questions about the effectiveness of preventive measures and road safety management under the Taliban government.
Local residents emphasize that, beyond immediate aid, practical steps must be taken to prevent similar incidents and reduce further civilian casualties, especially among children.
