Taliban Welcomes China’s Mediation Efforts in Afghanistan-Pakistan Dialogue

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Taliban administration, has stated that Afghanistan welcomes China’s mediation efforts and hopes that talks with Pakistan will yield positive results. He made these remarks following the visit of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to China. According to Mujahid, it is expected that Afghanistan will be among the topics discussed during negotiations between Chinese and Pakistani officials. No further details have been released regarding the possible agenda of these talks. In recent months, relations between Kabul and Islamabad have been marked by tensions, with security and border issues being central topics of discussion between the two sides. In this context, China’s role as a significant regional actor could influence the course of interactions. However, experts believe that any mediation will be effective only if the mutual concerns of both parties are openly examined and practical solutions are sought. So far, the Taliban administration has not provided details about the specific framework of this mediation or its demands from the process.
