Haaretz Reports on Iran-US Talks: Time is on Tehran’s Side

An Israeli media outlet has reported that in the framework of indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington, the passage of time is considered advantageous for the Islamic Republic of Iran, and pursuing the idea of a “regime change” no longer appears to be a practical or rational approach.
According to Mehr News Agency, the newspaper Haaretz wrote that Donald Trump, the President of the United States, if he intends to reach an agreement with Iran, must move away from outdated and oversimplified understandings of Iran’s domestic politics and present Tehran with a concrete, realistic, and actionable proposal.
The report stated that relying on concepts such as “regime change” or portraying Iran as an irrational actor does not align with current realities. Haaretz noted that even some Gulf Arab countries have warned Washington that time could strengthen Iran’s position.
The media outlet emphasized that US policy toward Iran needs to move away from past ideological approaches and toward a more pragmatic agreement. Otherwise, the author believes that the opportunity to manage Iran’s nuclear file may become more limited, and conditions may evolve in a way that grants Tehran greater leverage in negotiations.
