Suicide Bomb Attack on Pakistani Police Station Kills 12

At least 12 people were killed and several security personnel wounded in a suicide bombing targeting a police station on the outskirts of Bannu city in northwest Pakistan. The attack occurred when the suicide bomber detonated explosives concealed in a vehicle near the police building.

Following the explosion, a group of armed assailants stormed the scene and opened fire on the police forces. Local sources reported that the ensuing armed confrontation lasted for some time, leading to increased casualties.

Reports also indicate that after the initial blast, police reinforcements were dispatched to evacuate the wounded and support their colleagues. However, the attackers had set up a pre-planned ambush along their route, resulting in a higher number of victims.

Bannu city is located in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a region that has experienced numerous similar attacks on security installations in recent years.
