Trump Repeats Claims on Oman and Iran’s Nuclear Programme

US President Donald Trump on Monday repeated his earlier controversial remarks, criticising Oman’s conduct while also reviving claims about Iran’s nuclear programme.
According to Fox News, Trump, in response to a reporter’s question about his earlier threat against Oman, said he did not think the Omanis had “behaved very well,” but added that the United States had dealt with them “very easily.”
He then claimed, without regard to the peaceful nature of Tehran’s nuclear programme, that Iran cannot obtain a nuclear weapon and never will. Trump also said Iran wants a deal, but not one that, in Washington’s view, is considered necessary.
The comments came after Trump had previously warned that if Oman hindered Washington, the United States would bomb the country heavily.
Oman is one of the region’s important countries in the south of the Persian Gulf and lies next to the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic passage that has always held a sensitive place in the region’s political and security developments.
